Read the advanced metrics

Interpret the efficiency numbers behind the raw box score.

1. 1These metrics are a your sport feature — the formulas below are the ones your sport programs use, and Season stats only appears for teams whose sport tracks a box score.
2. 2Open Stats and click “Season stats”.
3. 3Start with the team panel at the top — it summarises how the team generates and gives up value across the season.
4. 4Scroll to “Advanced (per player)” for shooting efficiency, usage-related rates and per-minute production. That heading is the app’s own label.
5. 5Compare athletes on rate columns rather than totals, since minutes differ.
6. 6Treat anything under a handful of games as noise — trends need volume before they mean anything.
