The 9 traits a player is rated on

Each is scored 1–10. The behaviours listed are what a coach is actually looking at — they print on the report so a family can read what the number meant.

    Hitting / Contact

    110 · technical

    Bat-to-ball ability, barrel control, contact consistency, ability to handle velocity and movement, two-strike adjustments, and quality of contact.

    Plate Discipline & Pitch Recognition

    110 · decision making

    Strike-zone awareness, recognition of spin and pitch type, swing decisions, patience, and ability to adjust to changing pitching strategies.

  3. 03

    Power

    110 · physical

    Ability to drive the ball, gap power, home-run potential, exit velocity, barrel quality, and ability to generate power throughout the swing.

  4. 04

    Baserunning

    110 · tactical

    First-step quickness, reads, stealing technique, turns, aggressiveness, situational awareness, and ability to pressure the defense.

  5. 05

    Fielding

    110 · technical

    First step, glove work, range, footwork, throwing transitions, positioning, reaction time, and ability to make plays under pressure.

  6. 06

    Throwing

    110 · technical

    Arm strength, accuracy, quick release, throwing mechanics, accuracy on the move, and ability to make difficult throws.

  7. 07

    Game Awareness

    110 · tactical

    Understanding of outs, counts, runners, defensive situations, bunt/slap situations, coverage responsibilities, and anticipating the next play.

  8. 08

    Communication

    110 · mental

    Defensive communication, directing teammates, calling balls, dugout communication, and providing information before and during plays.

  9. 09

    Competitive Motor

    110 · competitive

    Hustle, preparation, resilience after failure, focus, toughness, consistency, and ability to remain engaged throughout the game.

Position groups

Some positions in softball are not doing the same job, so they are not rated on the same things. Each group below replaces the trait set entirely. An player whose position does not map to a group falls back to the 9 traits above.
